Fees & Funding

The membership fee for the Dawson Student Union is $19.00 per semester for Full-Time students and $9.50 per semester for Part-Time students. The funds are then allocated to clubs, the radio station, the newspaper, DSU events and campaigns as well as the day-to-day operation costs of running a union. The Executive Council will also occasionally fund external groups who are creating positive, progressive change in the Montréal community.

Each spring the Dawson Student Union has a general assembly where the financial statements of the Union are presented to the membership. This allows students the chance to find how their fees are spent and also give feedback on the Union's budget.  Students can also volunteer to be a member of the Finance Committee, which oversees many aspects of the DSU's budget.  To learn more about the committee email treasurer@mydsu.ca.

Students also pay a $6 ($3 for Part-Time students) membership fee to the Canadian Federation of Students, Canada's national student movement representing over 80 schools and 500,000 members.
